What do you think?

Gary Paulsen just finished his first Iditarod race from Anchorage to Nome. It took him seventeen days to run it and he states that he will "be back to run it again."

Based on the last chapter of Woodsong, explain why Paulsen never thought he would ever say he would race in the Iditarod again ( End p. 132). Support your answer with relevant and specific details from the novel.

i think he said this because since in some of the chapters he got hurt, but he still had fun with the dogs. also because he knows that next time he races the dogs will probaly listen to him. This race didn't got so well for Gary, and maybe he wants to try it over, even though he already got to the end of it.

  2. I think Gary said this because he had got a lot of hallucinations. For example on page(108)Gary saw the Eskimo man again, who had helped him with his dogs.Another reason is that when he was getting ready to go to Norton Sound page(126)he heard rumors that some people fell threw the ice and people froze. But when Gary got to Nome and saw his wife and everybody else i think he was confident that he can do it all over again.

  3. The reason why Gary Paulsen never thought he would say "be back to run it again"is because he had to stop feed his dogs. He also got sick and hallucinated. Another reason is because he used to have to unpack all his stuff and when it was time to go he had to pack it back up. He also got dragged the wrong way by his dogs. Those are some reason he said he thought he would never say"be back to run it again".

Paulsen said that because he thought that he couldn't finish the race but he did. Paulsen said in the book" I would NEVER finish the race. I think he said that because he through ups and downs and got hurt and many other things but he finished. That was very hard for him but i passed and tryed his best. Although he been through alot i still think he did the best he could.Another is that he probley wants to go back because he finished the iditarod. Also he probley wants to finish the iditarod again

  5. "Even then, when you are making The Run it doesn't seem possible. Not something that can be done. And yet you do it and then it becomes something you don't want to end-ever"(pgs.131-132). This tells why he didn't think he would ever say "we'll be back to run again", he thought it didn't seem possible to do.

  6. I think Gary Paulsen said that because he thought it was madness. He got injured a lot while doing the iditarod.Another reason is because he didn't know anything about dogs a couple of months ago.I think he said he would return because it might have been a sense of accomplishment.

" Not something that can be done. And yet you do it and then it becomes something you don't want to end-ever." That's why he said he could do the iditarod race again.

  9. I think Gary said that because it was cold and most of the time the dogs wanted to go the other way.And because every time he would get sick he will start to hallucination.on page 108 he seen that man that helped him with the dogs when he was sick. And because people are say rumors about people on pages 126.

  10. I think he said that because he really loves being with the dogs and bonding with them. In some chapters he had some fun with the dogs but other times he didn't have so much fun but he got through it all with his dogs by his side. That is why i think he said that.

  11. I think that Paulsen said that because he never thought that he would finish the race, probily because of his hallucinaction and the wether. After douting he would never finsh the race and saying "There is no sense to it but somehow it is because the race is something that doesn't seem it cann be done" but he did

  12. I think Paulsen thought he would never say he would be back to run the Iditarod again be cause in another chapter he basicly says he thinks running the Iditarod is a pain. In that chapter he thinks running the iditarod is a pain because he didn't get why they had go all the way to Alaska. So he thought he would never say he would be back to run the iditarod again.

  13. I think Gary Paulsen was trying to pay attention to the dogs but Gary never notice intill his dog Storm had always hold the stick but when Gary Paulsen was pushing the dogs to hard Storm had drop the stick and Gary have notice that he was pushing the dogs to hard. One day when Gary Paulsen had did something wrong Strom did pay back and Storm had told showed Gary that if he does something wrong there going to go hard on him.

The rezone why i think Gary will run the race again is because he enjoyed it.While he was in the race every couple of checkpoints he would look out and see the beautiful sight.Gary Paulsen even wanted to go back and do the race again but then refused when he heard his wife voice.I also think he will like to go back for the dogs they loved it in the cool fresh cold air they love. That is why i think Gary will go back and race the Iditarod again.

Gary Paulsen said, that he would not race in the Iditarod because he thought he would never finish it. In page 132 it says that he will be back. But he finished the race by himself and his 15 dogs from the begging. Alot of times he went through alot of bad weather and bad things. An maybe that was why he said he would never finish. But Gary Paulsen FINISHED the IDITAROD

  18. I think Gary paulsen dose not want to sled again because he kept falling off the sled when he was going to his first Iditarod then when he was there he was cold and he just kept stopping for food.

  19. The reason Gary never thought that he would say that he would came back is because in the wood Gary got in touch with him self. In the book Gary says " the middle of the world, the place I had found in the center of the world were it was only the dogs and only me''. gary really had some time to think about him self.

  20. I think Paulsen said that he would ever do the Iditarod again because he got hert alot of times like the gut. Also I think he wouldn't do the iditarod his team is slow.In the book it say there is no sense somehow it's because to hard to do. That's why I think he would ever do the idarod again.

  21. Gary Paulsen was working with dogs for a long time and Paulsen said that he is going to won the race but he don't.But then he said that he will be back to race again. I think he said that because he will won the lditarod one day and he will be happy

  22. He siad he will never run it again but when he was almost finish with the race he didn't want to finish because he wanted to return back into the middle of the world. He wanted for it to just be him and the dogs again.

  23. I think Gary Paulson thought that he will never race un the Iditarod because there was someone who already won the Iditarod so maybe he thought he couldn't win the Iditarod again. Gary Paulson thought for a min and he said he didn't care if he lost Gary Paulson just keep on going

  24. i think that gary Paulsen would never thought he would run again because it was painful because in another chapter he says running is a pain so he was not going to run anymore so he change his mind about running so he stayed with it

I think he said that was because he spent a lot of days with the dogs so now he is attachted to the dogs and because he probably might not see the dogs again

  27. I THINK THAT GARY PAULSEN DESERVES TO COME BACK AND COUNTINUE THE IDITAROD RACE BECAUSE FOR HIM TO WORK HIM SELF SO HARD AND PLUS TRAVELING AROUND THE WORLD JUST TO FINISH THE IDITAROD RACE HE'S A BRAVE AND BOLD MAN AND HE SHOWS COURAGE IN HIS SELF BECAUSE HE THOUGHT ABOUT NOT FINISHING UP THE IDITAROD RACE AND
HE WAS A STRONG MAN AND HE SHOWED THAT HE WAS NOT AFRAID OF ANYTHING AND HE SURVIVED ON HIS OWN WHILE BEING IN THE WOODS AND EVEN BECAUSE HE GOT A LITTLE BRUSED UP HE MADE IT THROUGH.

  28. I think that gary wouldn't come back to the iditarod race because of his hallucinations and the weather. Also in a other chapter he said that the iditarod was a pain. Last but not least he had some trouble with the dogs.
